Our funding strategy is unique and includes identifying charity organizations, companies and churches in specific African countries where we operate that undertake activities within our priority areas of focus and we believe their activities improve lives the most per dollar. We find this information from various sources including google, social media, surveys, interviews with local citizens, journals, NGO bureaus and government sources.
We then invite these organizations to send their proposals to us. Once the proposals are reviewed, we refer qualified organizations to one of our partner organizations in Africa to establish their legitimacy. A CERTICATE OF AUTHENTICITY is then issued to them. They are then expected to send a scanned copy of the certificate to us in order to claim their funding. The certificate is necessary to eliminate ghost projects and briefcase organizations from being funded.
Invitations are made through our official email addresses; afap3425@gmail.com, charity@afap.africa, donations@afap.africa, gombess190@outlook.com and funds@afap.africa.
We are committed to supporting a wide array of efforts across the African continent to improve lives and to promote equity and fairness. We magnify the consequence of these commitments through intense focus and a firm set of priorities. As a result, we do not accept or review unsolicited proposals for grants. We do our search to find Companies, Community Based Organizations, Churches and NGOs that we believe could contribute to positive change in any of our key areas of focus and invite them to submit a proposal.
We therefore ask that you not send proposals or concept notes unless invited to do so.
Action for African Progress awards grants at a minimum USD 4,500 to a maximum USD 56,500. Projects that we fund must be self-sustaining since recurrent costs like rental costs and utility costs are not covered.
Projects that demonstrate a high level of community involvement or partnership (financially or in kind) are given more priority.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Applicants are invited by our staff to submit Concept Notes at the initial stage of application. Our management will then contact shortlisted applicants to submit full proposals.
Applicants normally get twelve days to submit their proposals which must include;
- An accurate financial breakdown of costs involved (invoices can be attached to substantiate costing)
- A time-frame for implementing the project
- The individuals involved in project implementation including their academic profiles.
- Project background and clear outcomes
- Alternative sources of income.
Applications are only accepted through any of the four official email addresses; grants@afap.africa, donations@afap.africa, funds@afap.africa and info@afap.africa. Applicants are not allowed to submit their proposals to more than one email address. Such submissions lead to automatic disqualification.
Projects approved for funding must be verified by one of our partner organizations in Africa to establish their Legitimacy before funds are released. We refer qualified organizations to a specific partner organization that must verify their existence and confirm their legitimacy. They are then issued with a Certificate of Authenticity. This Certificate once issued, must be scanned and sent to us in order for us to release the funds to qualified organizations.
A note on shortlisting process
The application process is highly competitive. We receive many quality applications each year from ‘invited’ organizations but we can only fund a small number. While each application is dully assessed, we are not able to fund all applicants. Only projects approved for funding are contacted.
